Kids

The boys started going to the "wild wild west" again. Every afternoon. Kenneth is kind of between outdoor and TV person these days. So, I have to force him to go out if he decided to stay in the house. Kenneth enjoys staying over Cano’s house for “peace and quiet time”, according to him, without Sean and Thomas.

Last Saturday, we were driving to somewhere, Kenneth was over the front passenger seat while Sean and Thomas were having fun and making lot of noise in the back. Finally, Kenneth said “MOM, I really don’t know how you can stand all these crazy noise!” “Well, don’t you notice that I’ve been more and more depressed?” I replied.

This morning, as usual, I turned on the radio loud around 6:50, turned the lights on and told them it was time to wake up, and then started getting ready. While I was going downstairs, I noticed that the light was still on over Thomas and Kenneth’s room, so I went in and asked, “Thomas, are you getting up?” in Chinese. “Wa Mei Yo.” Thomas replied in Chinese. “Why not?” I asked, in Chinese. “Tai Lun la.” Thomas replied in Chinese. This little boy, somehow, likes to speak to us in Chinese, with his limited Chinese. But, hey, any Chinese would be good.

Thomas’ Chinese teacher has been watching/taking care of us pretty close this school year. She calls us (OK, the MOM) a week before every test. So, mom needs to study Chinese with Thomas for the whole week, 1 hour a night. And Thomas takes the test. And the Teacher would be so happy about the result and call us again. Then, mom need to give Thomas a coupon. Thomas really try hard. He memorized all the Chinese characters from book, but he was having hard time with the spelling. Well, Thomas has American born accent, so he spell the words with his accent…

Sean is having “problem” with his Reading since he does not like to read. I’ve been pushing him to read lately. Sean would take notes while he reads and review his notes before he takes his AR test. Guess what, the test result is very good. Of course!
